Turkey begins efforts to free civilians held hostage by pirates
Efforts are under way to free Turkish nationals held hostage in a pirate attack on a cargo ship off the coast of Algeria.

According to the Turkish Foreign Minister, necessary contacts have been made with all countries for the release of the citizens.
According to Turkish officials, the remaining crew members say that the pirates have cut all the cables of the ship, only the radar is working.

Earlier in the day, pirates attacked a Turkish cargo ship, killing an Azerbaijani man and taking 15 Turkish crew members hostage.
