Third T20: Babar’s century, Pakistan crosses mountain-like target with laughter

LAHORE: Captain Babar Azam’s stunning century helped Pakistan cross the 204-run target in the third match of a four-match Twenty20 series with a laugh at a loss of one wicket. In the T20, the national team scored over 200 runs for the first time.

In pursuit of the 204-run target, Pakistan’s innings was started by captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, both batting brilliantly from the start and playing shorts around the wicket.

National team captain Babar Azam completed a century off 49 balls, making him the third Pakistani batsman to score a century in a T20.

It may be recalled that earlier openers Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Rizwan have scored centuries in T20 from the national team.
On the other hand, Babar Azam along with Mohammad Rizwan has also set a record for the most opening partnership by Pakistan. A partnership of 197 runs was formed between the two players, Babar Azam was dismissed for 122 runs. William took the wicket.

Pakistan crossed the mountain-like target of 204 runs for the loss of one wicket. Muhammad Rizwan played a not out innings of 73 runs. William took one wicket.

Earlier, in the third T20 match between Pakistan and the Proteas cricket team, national team captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited rival captain Klaassen to bat and decided to bowl himself.
John Mann Malan and Aiden Markram started the innings for the Proteas cricket team, both batting aggressively in the early overs and playing great shorts around the wicket.

Markram scored his third consecutive half-century in the third match of the T20 series, ending his innings with Muhammad Nawaz. The batsmen were bowled out for 63 runs.

Among other batsmen, Linde scored 22, John Mann Malan 55 and Klaassen 15 runs. Dawson remained unbeaten on 34 while Flavioque scored 11. The Proteas have scored 203 runs in the allotted overs. Mohammad Nawaz took two wickets, while Faheem Ashraf and Hassan took one wicket each.
