The Cabinet Division wrote a letter to the Federal Secretary Law on the issue of Broadsheet Inquiry Commission.
The letter said that the Ministry of Law should provide office and funds for the Broadsheet Commission. The Ministry of Law should provide relevant records to the Broadsheet Commission and immediate steps should be taken to make the Broadsheet Commission functional as soon as possible. The federal cabinet, meanwhile, turned the broadsheet committee of inquiry into a one-member commission of inquiry. Justice (retd) Azmat Saeed will investigate and submit a report to the Prime Minister.
On the other hand, PPP and PML-N had expressed reservations over the government’s inquiry committee on the broadsheet issue. League MNA Mian Javed Latif said that Pakistan lost 5 to 7 billion rupees and there is no one to ask. Why the money was transferred to the account of Pakistan High Commission London before the decision was taken. He said that the standing committee was not summoning any individual. We are calling on the Chairman NAB as the head of the institution to facilitate this matter. They will have to come along with Shahzad Akbar and if this issue is not resolved then the door of the Supreme Court will also be knocked after consultation on the platform of PDM.
