The British contingent participating in the Olympics includes 8 pairs of siblings
The British contingent participating in this month’s Olympics in Tokyo, Japan includes eight pairs of siblings, including three twins.
The siblings will compete in various sports at the Tokyo Olympics, including swimming, cycling, boxing, boating, gymnastics and athletics.
Earlier in the 2016 Rio Olympics, the British contingent had 6 pairs of siblings and this time the number has increased which is a record.
Tom and Emily Ford will compete in rowing at the Tokyo Olympics, while Charlie and his sister Mathilda Hodgkins Byron will also compete in the same sport.
In addition, two brothers Joey and Max Litchfield will represent the UK in swimming, while Adam and his brother Simon Yates will compete in cycling.
Luke and Pete McCormick will be in the boxing ring, while Hannah and Judy Williams will represent the UK in athletics. Sisters Tiffany Porter and Cindy Sember are part of the athletics team, while Jessica and Jennifer Gaddyrova will compete in gymnastics.
In addition, the siblings could become another possible pair as Hannah Martin is part of the British women’s hockey team while her brother Harry has been kept as a reserve player in the men’s team. If they play a match, it will be the ninth pair to represent the British team in the Olympics.
The Tokyo Olympics will be without spectators from August 23 to August 8.
The Olympics were supposed to start last year but were postponed due to the rising incidence of the global epidemic in Japan.
