With the victory of Democratic candidate Joe Biden in the 59th US presidential election, Kamala Harris has become the first female US Vice President in history.

Kamala Harris, of Indian descent, is the first woman in American history, the first black woman, and the first South Asian vice president.

Kamala Harris is the first female vice president in the 231-year history of the United States and the 49th person to reach the post.

Kamala Harris was born on October 20, 1964 in Auckland, California, USA. She was elected San Francisco High District Attorney in 2003 and served as California’s Attorney General in 2010 and 2014.

Kamala was the third woman and the first black woman to run for vice president for a major party after Democratic Geraldine Ferrero in 1984 and Republican Sarah Palin in 2008.
Kamala Harris, 56, was the Republican candidate against Mike Pence. Kamala and Joe Biden were sworn in today, January 20, 2021, making Kamala the first female US Vice President.

Kamala Harris’s mother is from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, while her father is of African descent from the West Indies state of Jamaica.
