Imports of smartphones in Pakistan increased by 56.74%
Imports of smartphones increased by 56.74% due to increased demand for expensive imported mobile phones in Pakistan.
During the nine months from July to March, mobile phones worth Rs 248 billion were imported, which is 62 per cent more in rupees as compared to the same period last fiscal.
In dollars, more than ڑھ 1.5 billion was spent on imports of mobile phones in the first nine months, up 56.74 percent from the same period last year.
In total, an additional Rs 95 billion was spent on mobile phone imports compared to last year.
In the first nine months of last financial year, 153 billion mobiles were imported. In March 2020 alone, mobile phones worth Rs 35.29 billion were imported.
According to the statistics agency, the import of vehicles increased by 150% from July to March. Vehicles worth Rs 143.60 billion were imported in 9 months.
