Animals froze in heavy snow in Turkey Flights suspended
ISTANBUL: Istanbul airport was closed due to heavy snowfall in Turkey while animals standing on the roads were also frozen in the snow.
According to the International News Agency, it is snowing continuously in many cities of Turkey. Istanbul Airport has been closed for flights, while vehicles have been stuck on highways for two days and several highways have been closed.
The governor of Istanbul has instructed the rescue workers to hand over the keys of the vehicles stranded on the roads to the rescue agencies and return home by helicopter and rescue vehicles. Vehicles will be returned to them after the rescue operation.
On the other hand, animals tied to the roads and streets were also frozen in the heavy snowfall, the video of which went viral on social media. The process of moving the animals to a safe place is also underway.
Flights are expected to begin tomorrow at Istanbul Airport and dozens of passengers are still sheltering inside the airport. On the other hand, a large number of tourists arrived in the city for sightseeing and entertainment.
